NHS Scotland Case Study
At the National Health Service in Scotland, I applied user-centred design principles to improve public health services and address health inequalities
Led user research and prototyping initiatives to improve access to cervical screening, focusing on minority groups
Prototyped a design solution to address cervical screening health inequalities in West Lothian
Navigated a large and complex organisation to gain access to key stakeholders and healthcare professionals
Challenge
About 30% of the Scottish population do not attend screening appointments
Statistics show that there is a high correlation between deprivation and non-attendance
The reasons behind this are multifaceted and complex
By understanding the barriers to attending better, we can focus resources and personalise services to facilitate participation
In collaboration with the NSS Service Design Hub and Health and social care partnerships we set out to answer: “How might we use personalised communications to increase the uptake of cervical screening in West Lothian?”
